Winter Bridal Show!

Friday, January 16, 2015

Our tagline has been, "A warehouse of uncommon rentable goods!" and we thought what a better way to showcase our merchandise at a local bridal show than to literally bring the warehouse to it! Below is a shot of our booth out in the front lobby of the Alliant Energy Center, followed by detail photos of our booth, partyscapes that included some of our rentals and the booths from some fabulous local wedding professionals that used some of our rentals to highlight their companies. Check out the pics below and holler if you would like to know more about any of these talented peeps that we collaborated with. Cheers!

A La Crate Office Manager

ALC welcomes Courtney to our team as our new Office Manager!

She is a born and raised Texan, with a big heart, who moved to Madison for her main squeeze. We met Courtney out walking our dog a few years back and then worked with her when she and her hubby decided to tie the knot last year! They had an awesome wedding at the Goodman Community Center and made many of the decor items themselves. Just ask to see Courtney's ring! She needle felted one side and her husband turned wood on the other side. Incredible.

Courtney has a background in textiles (that we'll let her tell you more about below) and is a fabulous new addition to the team. She'll be the voice on the other end of the phone, email and you will often find her at the front desk. Now you can put a name with a face!

She will be Sarah's maternity back up as well, meeting with you to brainstorm ideas and do mockups in the shop. Her background is a great fit for ALC and we know you'll love working with her as much as we do!

If you haven't met Courtney yet, here are a few Q&A's she answered for us below!

Open House!

Thursday, July 10, 2014

We are so excited to invite you all to come celebrate our new space and indulge in some some of Sarah's pregnancy cravings (although truth be told she mainly can be found wolfing down peanut butter and fruit...)! I am pretty sure if there isn't any Hot Peanut Butter ice cream left over, we will all know who ate it! The event is July 25th from 4-7pm at our new location (the address is 2619 Industrial Drive in Monona). Staci, one of the owners of Calliope Ice Cream, will there be serving up Brandy Old Fashioned, Hot Peanut Butter and Graham Cracker ice cream (drool). If you are like me, and have a lifelong pickle craving, get ready to also nosh on a variety of pickle spears by Myrtle Mabel Farms, along with other pickled goodies that you don't want to miss! Once you have a plate of goodies, you can take a peek around our new space, settle into a vignette of our favorite rentals, or grab a seat at one of our handmade harvest tables to enjoy music by local (and very talented) musician Anna Vogelzang. Anna is a good friend of ALC - she is not only a previous customer but she has also worked with us on a past project! Make sure you are lookin' cute when you arrive because photographers, Sarah and Todd Maughn of Urban Anchor Photography, will be on hand snapping photos of our guests mixing and mingling! Last but not least, please note the incredible work that Emily Balsley Illustrations did on the poster for the event. She is such a talent and we couldn't be more excited to have her join us at the Open House, so everyone can meet her in person! (P.S. She also does wedding invitations!)

French Linen Victorian Sofa // Wood Stumps // Gold Bell

For those of you that follow A LA CRATE on Instagram, you may have seen some behind-the-scenes snaps of the photoshoot that I styled last week (I also posted a few of my own pics on the blog). Before I get into the nitty gritty of the shoot, I need to acknowledge the team of incredibly talented people that I worked with to make it all happen. Behind the lens, taking these incredible photos, was Andrew Keeley Yonda, a local Madison photographer. He and his wife, also a photographer, own a wedding & portrait photography studio, Amelia John Photography, and he also specializes in fashion photography.  Barb Zanzig was responsible for the beautiful hair and makeup of our model, Middleton fashion blogger, Natalie Callahan.  Putting together a photo shoot is often times a lot of moving parts and these three people, along with ALC, were so fantastic to work with. So, with that said, let's break down the shoot and talk about my inspiration and highlight all of the great ALC rentals I used to put together the three vignettes.
