New for 2014!

Wednesday, January 8, 2014

As we ease into 2014, there are a lot of exciting things happening at A LA CRATE. First and foremost, we have some great (and I mean really special) new items that we are adding to our inventory. As loyal followers of our blog, you are going to get the first glimpse of some of them. Feel free to share with friends! One of the most exciting additions to our inventory are our new Reclaimed Wood 8-foot Benches to match our handmade Harvest Tables. The benches are also handmade (by Jeff and our dear friend Joe) and we are really happy to be offering them both as a seating option for our tables or as a stand-alone piece. They will be available this Spring!

Featured Item: Wood Sled

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

If you are like us, living in a winter wonderland of shoveling snow and frozen fingers, you are probably fantasizing about beaches and backyard BBQs. Well, stop it! Let's embrace this lovely time of year and think about how we can make our holiday parties more beautiful and our photographs really pop! One of our favorite winter rentals is our wood sled. This gem is a classic throwback to childhood days of tearing down your town's best sledding hill. I would love to know who our sled belonged to...I bet he/she had a blast! Of course, we at A LA CRATE have a few ideas of our own on how to use our sled.

Sneak Peek: Demijohn Glass

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

We are so excited to share a sneak peek of a new item that we just picked up! These unique (and large) glass vessels are are called "demijohns" - an old word (these in particular date back to the turn of the century) that was used to refer to any glass vessel with a large body and small neck and enclosed in wicker. Demijohns are typically used in fermenting beverages such as beer and wine, but as usual, we are brainstorming unique ways to re-use them for dinner parties and styled photo shoots! We think they would be a striking centerpiece using olive branches, pussy willow stalks, or your favorite long-stemmed flower. Or group them together and create eye-catching decor for your next party!

The demijohns aren't in our inventory quite yet, but check back soon (and start thinking about how YOU will be using them!).

Here are the dimensions:

Green demijohn XL: 19"H x 10"DIA (8"DIA base)

Wicker demijohn L: 16"H x 6"DIA

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it is time to start thinking about your Grandma's gravy recipe, seeing your favorite cousins and, of course, how to decorate your table! A LA CRATE was recently featured on NBC 15 where we showcased some of our favorite products for beautifying your home during the holidays.
