A Super Duper 2012!

The most inspiring trip by far came as part of Sarah's annual family Christmas. Part of the get-together always includes helping out at Sarah's grandpa's house, a quaint log cabin back in the central Wisconsin woods. Grandpa Leo has been in the antique business for umpteen years, selling goods at local flea markets and always keeping an eye out for bargains. His pole barn is filled with everything you could imagine.

We were loading firewood into his basement for the winter when Leo says "Hey Jeff, come over here. I want to show you something." For the next hour he walked me through the aisles of his barn asking "Could you guys use this for your new business?" "How about this? I've got more stuff in the back too..." It was very humbling. At 83, Leo knows antiques inside and out. We have much to learn from him.

Next year might be his last year selling and it will be the first for our business. His eagerness to pass along his trade and wisdom, wanting nothing in return, is a lesson in true generosity. "It's part of being a Grandpa" he said. But it's more than that.

May your 2012 be a generous one. Or as Grandpa Leo would say, "I hope it's super duper!"
